Advocating on Capitol Hill

Medallion Bank recently sent three of its employees to Washington DC to advocate on behalf of the banking and recreation industries. Medallion Bank feels strongly about making communities and businesses better. The Federal government plays a big role in banking and in our clients’ businesses, and that is why we send our people to advocate on behalf of our respective industries.

Jonathan Allen, our SVP and Chief Compliance Officer, (Third from right) traveled with the Utah Bankers Association and the American Bankers Association in March. The group met with Utah senators and representatives to advocate for various issues affecting banking and consumers.

Camron Selby, our Chief Audit Executive, (Right) traveled with the National Association of Industrial Bankers and the Utah Association of Financial Services. They met with elected representatives serving on the House and Senate banking and financial services committees. Their focus was on advocating for the future of new industrial bank charters as well as maintaining a consistent regulatory environment within the FDIC. We advocate for industrial banks and the approval of new industrial bank charters because of the tremendous benefit they provide to consumers and businesses around the country.  

John Haymond, our SVP of Sales and Marketing, (Left) met on two separate occasions with Utah senate and congressional leaders on Capitol Hill. First, John and members of the National Marine Manufacturers Association met with Utah and Idaho delegates to promote the positive economic impact and employment generated by the marine industry. Next, John and members of the RV Industry Association met with Utah delegates to advocate for better conservation and recreation access, the advancement of innovations across the industry to meet consumer demand, and to ensure a healthy recreation ecosystem. 

We spoke and our representatives listened. We appreciate the opportunity to engage in the political process and look forward to more such visits.
