Company History
In December 2003, Medallion Bank opened its doors in Salt Lake City, Utah with three employees. As a subsidiary of New York City-based Medallion Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: MFIN), we had the initial goal of supporting our parent company’s taxicab medallion lending business. In 2004, we expanded by buying a portfolio of recreational vehicle loans and began originating that same year through dealerships. Recreation vehicle lending became Medallion Bank’s largest business line a few years later.
In 2012, the Bank expanded once again, starting a business line dedicated to financing home improvement projects at the point of sale for consumers working with contractors.
In 2019, the Bank began offering banking-as-a-service (BaaS) lending with a new strategic partnerships business line.
Medallion Bank cultivates a reputation for combining modern technology tools and industry-leading customer service. Though we no longer finance taxi medallions, the name points to our origin serving the needs of Medallion Financial.
